Ted Smith, a practicing attorney of Ted Smith Law Group PLLC in Harker Heights for 40 years, addressed members of Star Group-Veterans Helping Veterans during their Monthly Meeting in May as the guest speaker.
Ted Smith Law Group PLLC represents many veterans with Social Security disability claims. Ted Smith said, Judges presiding over the cases usually come from Dallas, and they may or may not be sympathetic towards a disabled veteran’s condition. “Service-connected disabilities do not guarantee Social Security disability.” Post-traumatic stress disorder cases are most difficult, he said. Smith’s job is to prove a client’s condition makes it difficult for them to fulfill the demands a vocation requires during a normal work week. “Mr. Smith stated that his firm have an 80 percent success rate and handle a variety of cases". Mr. Smith gave SG-VHV members a wealth of knowledge that will be needed in order to file their Social Security claims once they have been determined by a medical physician that they can no longer work based on their medical condition. SG-VHV members were also given 5-10 minutes to ask questions of Mr. Smith and he was delighted to answer all of them while providing his business cards for members and guest to contact him regarding any situation once meeting ended. SG-VHV was appreciative for the $250.00 donation presented by Ted Smith.
